Classic Vacations Awards Its Top Caribbean Hotel Partners
at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Assn’s Caribbean Marketplace

SAN JOSE, Jan. 15, 2010 – Classic Vacations, one of the top luxury travel wholesalers, recognized its top Caribbean hotel partners this weekend at the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association’s annual Caribbean Marketplace.

Cap Juluca on Anguilla was named “2009 Independent Hotel of the Year,” while Sandals took home “2009 Hotel Chain of the Year” as well as, for the second year in a row the “2009 Marketing Partner of the Year.” The event was hosted by The Cove Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

“These awards are to recognize our exceptional partners who, along with each and every one of our hotel partners, has made Classic Vacations’ leadership in luxury travel possible,” says Federico Moreno-Nickerson, Classic’s Director, Caribbean & Mexico Product Development.

“2009 was a surprisingly good year for Cap Juluca,” says Gary Thulander, Cap Juluca’s General Manager. “We headed into the year with a strategic plan and allied with key partners who we felt could deliver a significant return on investment. One of those partners, Classic Vacations, produced record-breaking figures doubling 2008's revenue which greatly contributed to our success.”

Classic Vacations presented the awards on Sunday, January 10, at Classic’s Annual Vendors Award event at the BLT Restaurant Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton San Juan Hotel Spa and Casino.

Classic’s award criteria included quality of product and service; responsiveness in addressing sales obstacles faced by Classic; frequent and proactive communication; quick and efficient response to issues helping to maintain Classic’s high-level customer service; marketing support resulting in higher than average sales; and proactive support from all departments – an overall positive attitude and willingness to work together.

Classic invited a total of 210 Caribbean hotel and resort chain partners to the awards event; 108 general managers, directors of marketing and sales, as well as VPs of sales attended.
