Tour of Volcano Crater

A visit to a dormant volcano is sure to be one of the most spectacular trips to make in St. Kitts. The tour begins at 7:00 am when you will be picked up and drive for approximately one hour by Land Rover/Jeep to the base of Mount Liamuiga. You will then begin a 2 1/2 hour vigorous hike up the mountain and through the rain forest observing giant forest trees, beautiful flowers and swinging vines. During rest stops, you will have a chance to learn about the different plant and animal life on the island. At the top you'll see neighboring islands and explore the surrounding area while your tour guide sets up a sumptuous picnic lunch. The walk back down to the trail base, where the Land Rover is parked is normally faster than the ascent. No doubt this is due to the waiting cargo of ice cold drinks!
