East Maui Waterfalls & Rain Forest Hike (with transfers)
It’s unusual for a rain forest valley to have this many waterfalls close together, so this is a popular spot on Maui’s famous Hana Highway. Experience a hike 2.5 miles round trip to waterfalls from 10 to 40 feet high. Depending on how fast you hike, you can reach three to five falls. There are great waterfalls, big, clear swimming pools, fresh-water streams, gorgeous bamboo and tropical rain forests. Plus, you can jump off rock cliffs and swing from a rope swing. The whole area is a playground of beauty and adventure. And the waterfalls can’t be beat. This hike includes the two pools and waterfalls of the Short Waterfalls Walk as well as taller waterfalls farther up into the valley. Stream flow volume may vary greatly, but water always flows, and the pools are always full. The trails are uneven, rocky and strewn with tree roots in places, there’s some hiking in boulder-strewn streams. Although the trails can be muddy and slippery, usually they’re fairly dry. Mostly this is a leisurely hike on reasonably good trails. Minimum age 6.
