Electra Palace Plaka
- Plaka, Athens' oldest residential quarter, is packed with neo-classical buildings, erected after Greece won independence from the Turks in 1834. Though mainly designed by foreigners, they were intended to affirm the national identity and were inspired by ancient Greek design principles. After decades of neglect, rich Athenians and foreigners have began restoring them to their former splendour.
- Glass doors open into a large, airy marble lobby with an oak reception desk, sofas and low-level tables where tourists and businesspeople congregate. The hotel facade has been restored to match the neo-classical style of the Plaka area.
- Guests have use of the spa facilities, comprising an indoor pool and jetted tub, sauna, steam bath, massage (surcharge), and fitness centre. The hotel's restaurant serves Mediterranean dishes and looks out onto a small, walled garden planted with palms and geraniums. Athens' balmy Mediterranean climate can be enjoyed with an outdoor drink, either in the walled garden, or on the roof terrace, with its panoramic city views.

This seven-floor hotel has 150 rooms divided between two wings - the old and the new; room sizes and furnishings are the same in each. Rooms are decorated in muted tones of either misty green, misty blue or beige, with heavy fabric bedcovers and curtains, and sofas in a contrasting colour. Entrance lobbies have wooden floors, while the rest of the room is carpeted. Beds, wardrobes and desks are made of oak. Walls are adorned with oil paintings by Greek artists. All rooms have minibars, laptop-sized safes, high-speed Internet connections, and satellite TV with pay movies. Bathrooms of grey or cream marble have combined baths and showers, white bathrobes and slippers, hair dryers, and makeup mirrors. Some rooms have furnished balconies. Interconnecting rooms are available on request. Three floors of the hotel are completely non-smoking.

The dining room has natural light from two sides, with the front opening onto the walled garden with palm trees; parquet floor, oak sideboards and green upholstered chairs.

The hotel lies six kilometres from the Apollon Coast, which stretches from Piraeus to Cape Sounio and offers beaches and sailing marinas. Ferries and catamarans to the islands depart from Piraeus port, eight kilometres from the hotel. The best beach for bathing and water sports is at Vouliagmeni, 25 kilometres from the hotel. There is an 18-hole golf course at Glyfada, 18 kilometres from the hotel.
