VIA S. MICHELE DI PAGANA 8
From its hilltop perch above the Portofino Coast in the ancient fishing village of Rapallo, the Excelsior Palace Hotel commands sweeping views of the Bay of Rapallo to the east and the Gulf of Portofino to the west. The hotel attracted a high-society clientele when it opened as a casino in 1901, but shut down in the 1970s. Now totally renovated and restored, it greets guests in an expansive reception area with gleaming marble floors, white pillars, and floor-to-ceiling windows framing its famous views. The hotel has two restaurants, two bars, both indoor and outdoor pools, and a health and beauty spa housed in a 19th century villa.

The nearby Kursaal, a 19th century villa, houses the hotel's health club, featuring a fitness room, Finnish sauna, indoor swimming pool, steam bath, and sun beds. The adjacent Beauty Farm offers facials, massages and other body treatments.
A private beach with an outdoor pool is situated between the hotel and the Kursaal, replete with umbrellas, sun beds, cabanas, and a restaurant and bar. The hotel is convenient to hiking and biking routes, and boat tours to Portofino, San Fruttuoso, Cinque Terre, and Genova are available. Nearby are tennis courts, horseback riding, and an 18-hole golf course, as well as wind surf, mountain bike, and scooter rental.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the hotel; fees may apply.
