From early autumn to early winter, endangered sea turtles lay eggs on the hotel's beach. The eggs are dug up and placed in a fenced "nursery." When baby turtles hatch, guests carry them to the ocean and release them at the water's edge.

What to Expect:

Dreams Puerto Vallarta Resort & Spa is set between the green Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. With its azure water, a private, sandy beach, and flowering gardens it retains a relaxed, natural ambience that appeals to holidaying families, couples, singles, and groups. Its various recreational facilities, from a rock climbing wall to tennis courts allow guests to choose activity while its spa, infinity pool, and sunning areas allow for tranquility.

Amenity Highlights:

Champagne and fresh towels are offered to guests when they first arrive in the open-air contemporary reception area. A large freeform pool (heated in winter) features a children's section and a swim-up bar. A second, unheated, "quiet" pool lies among tall trees. An infinity pool for relaxation is located in front of the Club Tower. Pool sundecks provide padded lounge chairs and umbrellas. Inaccessible to the public, the sandy beach fronting the hotel extends 369 meters (400 yards) between rock cliffs and is usually washed by low surf.

Activities for children ages 3-12 are supervised in a children's complex including an air-conditioned room and an outdoor playground. An air-conditioned, glass-walled fitness center contains cardio and weight machines as well as free weights. A spa opened in early 2005 with a sauna, steam room, and a menu of facials, massages, and other services. Massage is available in treatment rooms or in an oceanfront tent on the spa terrace.The concierge desk maintains a library of DVDs for guests to watch in their rooms. The water sports desk by the main swimming pool supplies boogie boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear, and floats for guests to use. Snorkeling lessons are provided to novices. Introductory scuba diving lessons are conducted in the pool (surcharge), and scuba diving, snorkeling, and fishing trips can be arranged (surcharges for all). Independent operators also book parasailing, water skiing, and banana-boat rides (surcharges).Golf enthusiasts can book tee times at several golf clubs within an hour's drive of the resort.
