P.O. BOX 140
Built high above the Chavón River with views of the river's gorge, Altos de Chavón replicates a 16th-century Italian village hand-constructed out of rock, stone, iron, wood, and cobblestones.
The village is dedicated to the arts and includes an art school and galleries, museums, shops, restaurants, and a Catholic church. Shows are held periodically in a 5,000-seat amphitheater – the site of concerts by many stars. Complimentary shuttles transport guests to the village.
Designed by an Italian architect to resemble an Italian seaside village, the resort's marina village includes shops, clothing boutiques, a supermarket, and restaurants arrayed around a central plaza facing a yacht harbor. From the harbor, a catamaran makes 45-minute trips to uninhabited Catalina Island for beach/snorkeling excursions (fees charged).
A complimentary children's/teens center offers computer games, Internet-connected computers, a large-screen television, pool tables, board games, CDs, karaoke, and outdoor volleyball. For fees, supervised children's activities are also available, with sessions for ages 1-3, 4-7, 8-12, and 13-17.
Other facilities and services include the eco-friendly full service Casa de Campo Spa, new gym/fitness center; and a business center offering cellular phone rentals and translation among other services. Complimentary activities include bingo and merengue lessons.
For-fee activities include moonlight riverboat cruises on the Chavón River, sunset catamaran cruises from the marina, and an archeological lecture/tour of caves containing indigenous people's artifacts.
Shuttle vans or private cars of varying prices are available. They can be selected during the process of booking an air-inclusive reservation for this hotel, via this Web site, and added to the total trip cost.
Children under age 12 stay free when sharing a room with adults. (Maximum two children per accommodation.) Adult accommodation fees apply to children ages 13 and older.
Extra person charges may apply depending on hotel policy.
Rollaways and cribs may be available and should be requested at the time of booking; fees may apply.
Photo identification and credit card or cash deposit are required upon check-in for incidental charges.
