Right in the centre of town, the Sofitel Queenstown is just a short walk (less than 500 metres) from the shores of Lake Wakatipu. Follow the lakeshore promenade to the left, which leads around a promontory with views of the town and, later, the Remarkables mountain range. Part of the promontory is a botanic garden that is often overlooked by many Queenstown visitors despite its unique alpine setting.

What to Expect:

An intimate lobby decorated with artwork and black-and-white photography greets tourists and business guests, as well as skiers during the winter season, to the modern-style Sofitel. To one side, low sofas and tables surround a fireplace and small bar that features mood lighting and sophisticated modern décor. Contemporary New Zealand art, glass, and sculpture, changed seasonally, is showcased on the walls.
