The Alcázar was destroyed in a fire on Christmas Eve 1734.Felipe V then decided to raise a new Royal Palace on this site, employing the best architect in Europe at the time, Filippo Juvarra. When Juvarra died in 1736, his pupil Giambattista Sacchetti made various changes to his grandiose project. The entire building is made of a series of domes built without a single piece of wood and it has multiple floors to accommodate all the administrative offices, Crown officials and servants.- Patrimonio Nacional, Gobierno de EspañaDuration: 5 minutesStop At: La Latina, Madrid SpainThe narrow and winding streets of this irregularly laid-out area, mostly dating back to the Middle Ages, usually lead onto a square. Most of them lay outside the Medieval walled village and provided accommodation to a great many merchants who sold their goods at the market. This commercial tradition still echoes in several street and square names, such as Plaza de la Cebada (Barley Square), where the farmers’ market used to be held, Plaza de los Carros (Carriage Square), Plaza de la Paja (Straw Square), or even El Rastro (owing its name to the blood trail of the old slaughterhouse), the city’s best-known flea market.- Official Tourism Website, MadridDuration: 5 minutesStop At: Barrio de Las Letras, Plaza de las Cortes, 28014 Madrid SpainIn the seventeenth century, the Golden Age of Spanish Literature, Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Quevedo, Tirso de Molina and Góngora, among other authors, had their homes here – hence the name. We had a great tour! loved the parks, the little bit of cardio and Alejandro, our tour guide. He's very relaxed, seems to enjoy very much showing people around. No hurry no worry. I will do it again! Bravo bike was excellent! good quality bikes and well maintained. Originally, we paid for this tour and by mistake they gave us the city bike tour, which was great also. We told them that we were hoping to have the bike tour. They honored our wishes and also gave us a good discount and accommodate us for a Saturday. Gracias Alejandro and Bravo bikes!!! Great tour, good information provided along the way, super easy way to see the city on excellent new Trek bikes.

If you want to see Madrid and combine some exercise then book a bike tour. I did the tour with 3 friends and one other girl so we were a nice small group. In total we cycled 8 miles and would never have visited as much of Madrid on foot or metro. We cycled on main roads, tracks and cobbled streets and none of it was too taxing (electric bikes are available). It was fun cycling to the main historic sites and through the many different districts of Madrid. Alex our guide was friendly and knowledgable about the history of Madrid. The bikes provided were good quality and easy to use. I’d highly recommend doing a Bravo Bikes tour.
