Traveler Reviews

Definitely a worthwhile trip . The two sites are complementary: the walled city of Avila with its historic churches and market, feels like a charming small town, while Segovia with its impressive cathedral and Alcazar (castle) is a grand (former) seat of power. We went in October - perfect weather. Our guide, Pilar, was excellent. Like our other day trips out of Madrid this involved a lot of walking, but we seniors (70's) did ok - lunch, then the bus trip from Avila to Segovia gave us a rest mid-day.. And the walking at the conclusion of the tour in Segovia, is mainly downhill. Covid precautions were followed, which we appreciated. We also did the trips to Escorial and Toledo - wouldn't have wanted to miss any of them.

First Cathedral and Last Cathedral. Wall of Avila- beautiful. Nice palaces along the way. The tour may seem a bit long, due to travel time of almost 3 hours plus traffic in Madrid. Guide was nice. However, please choose your day very carefully. It was extremely cold and rainy on November 22, 2021. Lots of walking on a cold, rainy day.

Avila is a UNESCO site. Our guide was well educated on each aspect of the town. Truly educational. In winter, dress warm with hat, scarf and warm coat or you will be cold. On this trip you will tour the church built for St. Theresa and the basilica in Avila and tour the cathedral In Segovia. You will walk through these two beautiful and unique cities. Not only do you learn about the history but also the architecture. In Avila, you will eat lunch and can chat with other tour members or go shop for souvenirs. Eat first. In Segovia you will learn about the aqueduct, history, royals and also tour a castle. Great tour all around. Comfortable bus. I highly recommend.

Our guide was patient and friendly and very impressive translating between Spanish and English. Timing of the tour is just nice without rush. Avila and Segovia are truly beautiful worth a visit.

It was a fantastic tour to two ancient cities north of Madrid. Pillar is an amazing guide! She is knowledgeable, funny and very well prepared! Highly recommend!
