CAP MAISON, Understated Elegance 5 star oceanfront gem
August 12, 2011
July 27th we caught a quick 55 minute nonstop flight on Liat at 5:30am over to St Lucia (SLU). There are 2 non-stops offered a day, one in the early morning and one in the late afternoon/evening, everything else changes planes on a different island.
Upon arrival in St Lucia, we were taken by private car transfer over to Cap Maison. Beautiful 5 star boutique hotel where the staff knows you by name and goes above and beyond the call of duty with any request. Stunning views from resort grounds and beach below.
This boutique hotel has 49 Rooms and Suites. I stayed in a One bedroom Oceanview Villa Suite with private rooftop pool (#22). Full living room and kitchen with stove and refrigerator. Upstairs is another living area with a large pool on the rooftop. Great views of the ocean and resort grounds. The bedroom and bathroom are air conditioned. The bathroom has a nice large soaking tub, separate walk in shower and water closet. There are great outdoor living areas in these suites. They can connect with a gardenview room to make a two bedroom. There is also a Jr. Suite with a separate entrance that is on the same floor that adjoins this suite.
There is an open air restaurant which has a great fine dining menu. Their restaurant has a great variety of items on the menu which revolves, so you don't see the same items daily (and I'm a very picky eater) and they've got a wide assortment of wines and you can arrange private wine tastings in their cellar.
Small spa on property, with wonderful treatments. Julien is one of the massage therapists there and he does an amazing job. Small gym with great equipment is available anytime.
The great thing about this area is it’s close enough to be able to catch a cab into Rodney Bay where you can eat at a number of different restaurants like The Edge, or walk down the street to nightlife, a casino and shopping area.
We went out on their yacht one evening, the Cap Maison I and it was SO nice. Just 7 of us on the boat with the Captain and crew and Ross the resort GM, what an experience!!
The beach at Cap Maison sits down a staircase where they’ve got a small beach bar and Hobie cats, snorkeling equipment and other water sports. This beach is not easily accessed by the public, so it’s very secluded. Great snorkeling right off the beach and the snorkeling equipment is right there provided by one of the great resort staff down on the beach!
There are 2 main pools at this resort. One adults only pool and the main resort pool which sits right off the restaurant.
You can socialize with people or keep to yourself, that is completely up to you! You aren't pestered to join in "group activities" with an activities director, but you can book excursions with people they trust for a private excursion, not loaded on a bus with 30 other people.
They will arrange private car transfers to and from the airport for you from Point A to Point B. You aren't loaded on a shuttle, stopping every 20 minutes to unload more people. If you want a mega all inclusive, cookie cutter property with numerous mediocre dining options, and scheduled activities for the masses on the hour, this is NOT the place for you.
There are different packages offered at Cap Maison which can include all meals and drinks with airport transfers and some sightseeing included. There is a Peak to Beach package for guests wanting to stay at both Ladera & Cap Maison which includes all meals, drinks, airport transfers.
Cap Maison will be closed from August 28th – September 25th, 2011.
