Casa Dorada Los Cabos Resort & Spa
September 15, 2011
Like ME Cabo, villa suite property also sits on Medano Beach, with a lobby featuring contemporary art, black wood stairs, and a fine view of Lands End. The similarity ends there, however.
Laid out in a “U” shape around its pool, the site resembles a condominium development and would be a nice choice for families looking for 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms. All 150 suites have an ocean view and kitchenette or kitchen.
There are two pools (kept at 28- and 25-degrees Celsius), one of which is adults-only; cold and a hot Jacuzzi tubs, a swim-up bar, and first-come, first-serve beach beds served by a Casa Dorada beach concierge. Also on property are two fire pits, a kids’ pool, and a turtle sanctuary.
Insider tips: the main bar features 60 beers from all over the world, and is the setting for special events ranging from art expositions featuring native artists, to music concerts. Valet parking is free, and the property, a member of Preferred Hotels, has been recognized with the AAA 4-Diamond Award.
Beware one thing: Though there is a children’s program, the children’s area is consigned to the most dismal setting I’ve ever seen on a property. The indoor area has adequate space, but the outdoor children’s area constitutes a narrow yard carpeted with artificial turf, enclosed by high stone walls, and boasting only a plastic play fort and toddler-sized soccer goals. I would recommend this property for families who would like to spend time with their kids, or those visitors who want to be closer to the commercial center of Cabo San Lucas, with its Americanized stores (Costco, Sam’s Club) and abundance of available souvenir shopping.
