The Fairmont Kea Lani Maui

May 16, 2012

When starting my recent trip to Maui, it was pointed out that my reviews often talk about the important things in life, namely COFFEE. So with that in mind let me talk about the most important thing at the Fairmont Kea Lani Maui, the Cappuccino! After enjoying a great Lunch at “Ko”, I joked with my server (Hollie) about wanting the perfect Cappuccino, and that I would likely put the best Cappuccino in Maui in my review. Well to my surprise, it really was one amazing cappuccino, and not by any small island standards, I could compare it with any cappuccino in any destination. So thank you Hollie for a great cappuccino and good laugh. By the way, Hollie’s skills as a server are pretty top notch as well, and Ko was a VERY good meal. Everything I ate at Ko was perfect.

On to the review of the resort…

General: The Fairmont Kea Lani is a pretty well known property located in Wailea Maui. The easiest way to describe the look of the Kea Lani is… Well it’s all White. And when I say white, it’s not a bad thing; it’s a beautiful and unique resort, cosmetically one of the best looking properties on Maui. There is something for everyone at the Kea Lani, Great dining options, nice activities, good mixture of guests, and plenty of options for peace, quiet, and romance. The area around the resort feels more like a private or “gated” community, but offers everything a guest at the Kea Lani needs, including an offsite bar in walking distance, shopping center, and yes, an ABC store for your late night beer… I mean snack, purchases. The Kea Lani is an all Suite property, and the suites are definitely the best rooms of any resort on Maui. Ultimately, the Kea Lani is a top choice for any guest looking to have an amazing experience.

Pros: Above mentioned many big Pros, including the Cappuccino and that all of the rooms are suites, but add to the Pros the Meals, the amazing beach, huge Lanai, free parking, swim up bar, and top notch staff. For all the bathroom lovers out there? The bathrooms are huge, basically the size of a full bedroom leaving plenty of room for, whatever you do in there. As far as the room goes, luxury all the way, there is nothing about these rooms that leave you wanting more, yet they are not over done or leaving you feeling out of your element. Lastly the Kea Lani offers Villa’s, including Beach Front Villa’s, to clients and families wanting even more from their experience. Of course all guests in a Villa still have access to all of the inclusions at the resort. Yeah, hear that kind of thing elsewhere? Here is the difference, without obstructing any views these Villas are located right on the resort with easy access to the pools, restaurants and… well anything. Now that’s pretty “Suite” (I know, funny)

Cons: You know, it’s very hard to think of cons when you are such a big fan of a resort and daydream about when you can go back, but to be fair… Even though the resort is not overly large, I did get lost once! Ok that could be blamed on many things, which may be appropriate for a blog entry on some other type of website... Ok honestly, I really do feel that the resort is great for any type of client, however, being a great price point and offering large suites, you will have families (aka children and all that comes with them) staying at the Kea Lani. Also depending on where you are, the Lanai may not be the most private because of the layout of the property.

Overall: I am a big fan of The Fairmont Kea Lani, the rooms were my favorite at a resort on Maui. The property has everything I would want offering great service, fabulous food, enjoyable guests, and allows for every opportunity to experience fun, or romance. Again, great Cappuccino!

Thank you to the Kea Lani staff for hosting me.
