Hermitage Bay, A Sexy Couples Hideaway
August 12, 2011
The next stop was over to Hermitage Bay Resort where we stayed for 2 nights. This property is only about 3 years old now and WOW what an amazing little gem of a resort.
The unpaved road leading to the resort is an adventure. I like to think it keeps this little gem of a resort hidden away from lookie-loos!! You have to want to go to this property to get there. Hermitage Bay is a very sexy all inclusive boutique resort. You walk into the open air lobby of the resort and you can see straight to the ocean. High ceilings and dark wood are predominant throughout the resort. There are unique photos of Bob Marley hanging throughout the lobby. We were told they were found in a box and then sold and framed for the lobby of Hermitage Bay. The restaurant sits right off the lobby to the left, and the bar sits off to the right.
There are 8 Beachfront Cottages and 17 Hillside Cottages which have their own private plunge pools. I stayed in Hillside Cottage #22 which sits directly across from the spa and yoga/pilates pavilion where we did pilates one morning. My Hillside Cottage had a very secluded private plunge pool and outdoor living area. The King sized bed is draped with mosquito netting at night which is very romantic. Each of the Cottages has a private outdoor shower and separate standalone tub with double vanity sink inside the bathrooms. They also have TV’s in each room, telephones and Wi-Fi throughout the property. I really loved this cottage because it was slightly up the hillside, so you had views of the ocean, but you didn’t have to hike a long way to get there. There is a row of Beachfront Cottages closest to the beach, and main infinity edge pool which sits right at the bar. Hillside Cottages #37 #38 #39 have the most breathtaking views and will be priced accordingly in 2012. The only drawback I see in these Hillside Cottages that are higher would be trekking up and down the hillside. They WILL come pick you up by golf cart if you let them know.
Hermitage Bay sits on a great stretch of secluded beach. We can arrange private picnics on one of 6 area beaches where you’re taken by private boat and dropped off for a few hours on a private beach. You’re given a cell phone so if you want more time on the private beach you can call to let them know, or if you want to get picked up earlier, you can just call and they’ll come and get you. The cost for this is about $20 per person.
They have a very nice organic garden on property, and they use what they grow in the restaurant. You can set up a tour of the organic garden.
After their yearly fall closure, they will reopen with a fitness center.
Hermitage Bay will be closed from September 5th – October 9th 2011
