Luxury Caribbean at a very affordable price
February 3, 2012
When I think of The Caribbean, I think of great beaches, great food, and great people! I was worried the Caribbean prices would be high, especially during peak travel season, but I was not going to let that stop me, so when I researched each island and came across the Dominican Republic, I was happily surprised to find Sivory Punta Cana Boutique Hotel. It was this amazing beachfront property with lush landscaping that has its own private beach and tucked away in Uvero Alto. The airport is an hour from the hotel and the air prices were reasonable, along with flight options being flexible as well! We were definitely sold and couldn’t believe how little we were paying during one of the busiest times of the year for the Caribbean.
When we arrived at the hotel we were pleasantly greeted by the front desk staff and shown to our suite, which was everything we expected. Luxurious bedding, spacious bathroom with a romantic tub for two, a fully stocked mini-bar, a personal wine refrigerator and of course, a beautiful view of the beach! Everything around us embodied relaxation and we took advantage of it! We had drinks on the beach while relaxing under the palapas and gazing out into the horizon of endless turquoise water. After a long day at the beach and we had treatments at their spa “Aquarea Spa & Wellness Center”- I highly recommend their body scrub and body wraps. After the treatment you emerge a new person and feel incredibly relaxed- not to mention having soft and subtle skin. By evening we were ready for dinner - we arrived early to Laveranda, grabbed a cocktail and watched the sunset before savoring in the Mediterranean inspired cuisine with colors and flavors bursting from the ocean. Our dinner at Gourmond, their fine dining restaurant was superb. Sivory features the third largest wine cellar in Caribbean, after Graycliff in Nassau and La Samanna in St. Martin. The sommelier made great recommendations for pairing our wines with our menu selection. The food is all farm fresh, since the Dominican Republic has a very extensive agricultural and farm industry, very rare for Caribbean Islands which tend to import all their food. As for the wine, we were unable to finish the bottles, so we had it corked and sent to our room to enjoy the following evening on our terrace.
Sivory Punta Cana Boutique Hotel is definitely a place I will recommend to friends for everything it offers but also because of everything there is to do in the Dominican Republic. Whether its golfing, spa, cuisine, culture, beaches or the people- there is something for everyone. It’s no wonder the secret’s out about the Dominican Republic, a once secret enclave to many.
