ME Cabo, by Melia

September 15, 2011

This contemporary resort sits on Medano Beach, directly across the water from Cabo’s famous rock formation, Lands End, and within walking distance of shopping in the (Americanized) town of Cabo San Lucas.

Guests can stroll to the nearby Medano marina, and hire a water taxi to take them to the famed Lover’s Beach. On the other side, a beach activity vendor (not associated with the hotel) provides rentals for water sports. Being right in the middle of the beach action suits the ME brand, which is designed to appeal specifically an active traveler interested in nightlife and social activities. Typically, but not always, this would mean younger singles and couples.

Multiple indoor lounge areas dot the property, from the wi-fi-equipped lobby, to Nikki-Beach style nightclub-like restaurant spaces, to the living-room-like lounge, set in the middle of the adults-oriented Floor 6 and decorated with wall-sized abstract nudes in shades of orange and red.

“Energy Suites,” situated on the ground floor, feature 1 hot tub on a patio shared between two rooms; each room has a 42-inch flat-screen TV, video game consoles, and Don Julio tequila.

The largest ME Cabo room is the Loft Terrace, offering a beautiful terrace overlooking the ocean, and large enough to host a group reception for up to 100 people. The outdoor pool areas feature double beach-beds, and hammocks dot the property, as well. We toured ME Cabo early on a quiet Monday morning…and were assured the property really comes alive at night.
