A Quiet Getaway

September 30, 2011

La Villa Maillot is a boutique hotel located in a quiet, classy neighborhood of Paris. The hotel is just off Avenue Foch, and is only a few minutes walk from the Champs Elysees and the Golden Triangle-one of the most sought after neighborhoods in Paris. The chic shop windows on the Avenue Montaigne and some of the finest restaurants in Paris are steps away. The hotel opened in 1988, and this year is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. The building which houses this hotel once was an Embassy, and the hotel still seems to keep its aura of refinement and discretion. Its location protects the hotel from the noise of the busy street just beyond. The interior courtyard with its lovely fountain provides a peaceful atmosphere. The French owner makes sure that attention to detail is paramount, from its unique antiques to its hand picked decorations. The hotel is modernistic Art Deco style.

Breakfast is served in the Verriere, the heart of the hotel’s interior courtyard. This glassed enclosed area is full of light and surrounded by greenery. What a fantastic area to enjoy your morning pastries and espresso. La Villa Maillot also has “Le 143” bar where you can enjoy a pre dinner cocktail or a relaxing cup of coffee or tea.

I was very impressed with the hotel’s spa. This space is dedicated to your well-being, and as soon as you enter the room, you have a feeling of peace and serenity. It is decorated in fine wood and bathed in gentle blue light and mood music. It is very relaxing. The hammam sauna and steam room is complementary to all hotel guests and is open from 5:00PM-9:00PM daily. Western and Oriental massages are available. Reservations are a must since there is only one treatment room.

The 42 rooms include 3 suites, and are decorated in blues, beige and white tones. Art reproductions of drawings, paintings and charcoals decorate the walls and add a nice touch to the Art Deco ambience. The three suites are named after well known artists: Picasso, Chagall and Modigliani. These suites are duplexes on the 8th floor of the Villa, overlooking the Paris rooftops. The duplexes are perfect for a family of three because the sofa makes into a bed. Each of the three suites has its own style and is decorated with the works of the artist for whom it is named. The Chagall junior suite is a favorite with honeymooners. The Modigliani suite has a spacious bedroom decorated in light, soft tones and the Jacuzzi in the bathroom is very relaxing. The Picasso suite has a great view of the Paris rooftops and a distant view of the Eiffel Tower.

La Villa Maillot is a nice choice for clients who are looking for a quiet getaway away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still want a stylish, discrete hotel. It is a nice moderate choice for the Classic client.
