A former 19th century monastery the lobby has old world marble floors and soft antique lighting. The lobby is a mixture of styles with Asian and contemporary art, live green plants, gold gilt glass and fabrics. With just 69 rooms this is a boutique hotel. Most rooms offer a view of Villa Borghese or the city. There is a Michelen 1 star restaurant, Mirabelle, as well that has an elegant air to it. There is also a terrace for dining.
The rooms have large doors with archways of wood, original to the monastery. All rooms are decorated in a classic Roma Baroque style. Superior rooms offer no view. The rooms are similar in color as is the hotel with whites, creams and gold and the accent of red and/or blue. The Borghese suite has a large terrace attached to it with beautiful views. Special Deluxe rooms and Junior suites also offer a terrace.
There is meeting space available for up to 50 guests and a small fitness room with 3 machines. Elegant shopping is available just steps for the hotel. The staff was professional and friendly. While the hotel just opened in 2001, a full renovation was completed recently. This is another solid 4.5 star hotel and would be perfect for a couple desiring an upscale address and traditional, elegant furnishings and surroundings.
