A Slice of Paradise
August 12, 2011
The Fairmont Mayakoba is something out of the ordinary. This unique slice of paradise will capture your senses as you stroll the pathways leading to the beach. Or maybe you’d prefer to ride a bike? How about taking a golf cart or a boat to get you where you want to go? All of those options are available to you while staying at the beautiful Fairmont Mayakoba.
This is a large property (48 acres, to be exact) on a pristine, white sandy beach, built around the “El Camaleon greens”, a PGA tour official course. The grounds feature mangroves and a lagoon amidst a jungle-like setting.
The rooms and suites are stunning and have a tropical, yet contemporary flair. No amenity has been overlooked and yes, there are also those amazingly scrumptious beds with the luxurious bedding. I look forward to those comfy beds when staying at any Fairmont property – they are always there, waiting to welcome me. The large, well-appointed bathrooms have plenty of counter space for all my “stuff” — another welcome sight, as well. I just hate it when there is no room for even a toothbrush! The rooms, and especially the suites, have ample sitting areas and room to move around.
If you are a beach lover like me, be sure to secure a beachfront unit. The views are stunning and I love the rooftop private pool. But more importantly, due to the sheer size of the Fairmont Mayakoba, if your room is back in the mangroves or near the golf course, you will be quite a distance from those ocean breezes. That being said, you will be closer to the amazing Willow Stream Spa — and that is a definite plus! When considering the Fairmont Mayakoba, pick your room or room category carefully so it suits your preferences.
I guess I should mention that the service was flawless and the food fabulous, but I didn’t expect anything different and I certainly was not disappointed. It’s just what I’ve come to expect from Fairmont properties and the Fairmont Mayakoba nailed it!
