Top Notch Service
September 30, 2011
Built in 1894 by Caesar Ritz, the St. Regis Grand Rome was closed in 1999 for a complete 1 year renovation. The lobby is quite large and the hotel offers many function rooms for meetings and parties.
The rooms are all decorated in the same mixed Louis XV/Empire/Regency style. All rooms are beautifully furnished with mostly original antiques and feature a writing desk and chair and a flat screen TV. The beds featured padded fabric headboards with a large painting above. The colors were elegant and soft with a lot of cream used with splashes of dark gold, blue or red. The furniture was mostly original antiques and a smattering of reproduction pieces. Larger rooms offer a sitting area and in suites there are also a table and chairs. The Ambassador suite in particular offers a guest bath in the foyer and a freestanding ball and claw tub in the master bath. There is also a walk in closet. Overall all rooms unique yet similar and decently sized.
This hotel has a KAMBI spa which is Asian influenced. There is also a workout room with TV’s on the treadmills and bicycles and a private Pilates room with a massage table. The St. Regis is home to Rome’s very first elevator! It is still in working order and was a special treat to use.
The service was top notch so this hotel would certainly satisfy the most discerning client.
