The Luna Hotel Baglioni in Venice reports being the oldest hotel in one of the most romantic cities in the world dating back to the 12th century. Luna Hotel Baglioni can be found right beside San Marco Square and the Basilica, the location is excellent. From the time you’re dropped off on the front steps by private boat to the reception area and are greeted by the wonderful staff, you know you’re in Venice.
The Luna was decorated in a variety of colors with lots of antiques and the pictures on the walls throughout the hotel gave you the real sense of Venice. We viewed several of the rooms from the Junior Suites to the Presidential suite. All the rooms are decorated in Italian marble and the bathrooms featured walk-in closets, flat screen TVs in the bedrooms, and a sitting area where guests can relax. The junior suites look out onto side streets or small internal courtyards or Venice’s rooftops. Only a few have views of St. Marks and the island of San Giorgio.
The different types of Suites offered are Deluxe, Lagoon View and Grand Lagoon View. The Presidential Suite, also known as the Giorgione, is split into two levels with antique furniture from the 18th century that is simply amazing! The second level is the bedroom with a beautiful Italian marble bathroom, Jacuzzi bathtub and a walk in closet, two plasma screen TVs. The best feature of this room is a large wooden terrace overlooking the Lagoon, which offers a breathtaking view of St Mark’s and is ideal for romantic candlelight dinners during the summer months.
There are two restaurants at the Luna Hotel. The Canova Restaurant is designed to hold up to 80 guests in a very sophisticated decor set against the San Marco lagoon. The menu is based on a selection of local foods and traditional specialties along with a very wide selection of fine wines.
The largest room is the "Salon Marco Polo", it can accommodate up to 170 people and it is the ideal setting for special events: private dinners, wedding parties and cocktails. A buffet breakfast is served every morning in this room.
Venice was the BEST of all. From St Mark’s Square to the gondolas rowing through the dark waters and the beautiful sunset on the water’s edge, I was in heaven and Venice captured my heart.
