What is
Volunteer
Travel?

Travel With Purpose

Meaningful travel is about being a part of something larger than yourself. It’s about being immersed in a new culture, fostering genuine connections and seeing the world through a new lens. It’s about embarking on an unforgettable journey and creating a lasting legacy.

Travel with ME to WE and be a part of real, sustainable change. ME to WE is a social enterprise that creates socially conscious products and experiences that allow people to do good through their everyday choices. Half of ME to WE profits are donated to support their partner, WE Charity, while the other half is reinvested to grow the mission of the social enterprise.

Volunteer alongside community members on a development project as part of WE Charity’s sustainable development model, WE Villages. Through WE Villages, our local staff work with rural villages and regional governments to support, teach and empower people within five Pillars of Impact that lead communities to true independence: Education, Water, Health, Food and Opportunity. With 20 years of history building WE Villages, each hands-on experiential trip offers participants and communities the opportunity to partner and learn from each other.

Every ME to WE Immersive Volunteer Trip is built on a defining level of service and commitment, called Signature Service. Expert ME to WE staff members guide and assist with every step of your journey from the moment you reach out to them until after you return. From beginning to end, they take care of all the details—so you can focus on what’s really important: being present and connected.

What to Expect
on a ME to WE Trip

ME to WE trips connect participants with learners and leaders from different cultures

ME to WE trips make an impact

When you participate in a ME to WE Immersive Volunteer Trip, you contribute to WE Charity’s renowned sustainable development model, WE Villages, by contributing to one or more of the model’s five Pillars of Impact—Education, Water, Health, Opportunity and Food. Alongside locals, you might lay foundations or bricks for schools, run summer camps for children, or support workers digging fields and planting trees.

The community and its needs determine your volunteer efforts. ME to WE helps people build up stable, thriving communities that give them the power and dignity to support themselves. Our local staff work with rural villages and regional governments to support, teach and empower people within the five Pillars of Impact.

Alongside locals, you might lay foundations or bricks for schools, run summer camps for children, or support workers digging fields and planting trees. Your efforts contribute to the many important steps needed to establish the five pillars, which eliminate the obstacles to education.

Half of ME to WE’s net profits are donated to support WE Charity—helping you make an even bigger impact on the place you visit.

Each trip promotes dialogue and cultivate relationships by giving participants a unique opportunity to spend time with local community members and put real faces, names and stories to the impact of their volunteer work. Participants experience and embrace the sights and sounds of a new culture, by tasting the unique flavors of local cuisines, taking part in traditional activities and learning new languages.

You will also find adventure on every trip. Whether you’re searching the Big Five on safari in Kenya; being trained by a Maasai warrior to throw a traditional rungu; or participating in a traditional Hindu prayer ceremony in northern India, each adventure puts participants side-by-side with community members who teach you skills or deepen your experience through participation.

Trip facilitators, expert local guides, world-class cooks and service staff are dedicated to making your Volunteer Adventure comfortable, safe and unforgettable. No detail is left untouched. From hot water bottles, turndown service and packed lunches, they ensure you can focus on each moment, with the peace of mind that safety is the top priority.
