Traveler Reviews

Wonderful day cruising around Kona ( Bite Me 3) with the bonus of catching a Blue Marlin! Beautiful boat with plenty of shade a nice couch to chill on and coolers with ice provide by the staff for drinks and food oh and a Bluetooth radio. Brooke and captain Andy where fantastic and coached me along the process of getting the fish in the boat! Couldn’t be happier. Hope to fish again soon with Bite Me!

I should have known better. I was having second thoughts the entire week. After all, what self respecting outfit calls themselves "Bite Me Sportfishing"? That's right, no one with half a brain. It's really stupid after all. And actually pretty lame too. But then again, so am I, because despite my doubts we showed up this morning for our half day charter. We were greeted by, I think, a middle aged woman who was clearly jonesing for a smoke, a coffee, or maybe and actually probably, something way stronger. She barely said anything. But kept flicking her hair and saying the boat wasn't there yet but would be in shortly. Did we want drinks or did we want to buy a tee shirt. I should have known better. Before all too long, our charter putt-putts its way to the berth and offloads a family with two young kids. I asked them how the fishing was and it was clear that it wasn't. Through pursed lips she murmured "not so good, we caught one tiny fish". I should have known better.

Fantastic experience with Captain Brad and Aaron. Caught a wonderful Ono within 30 minutes. Absolute professionals who know what they are doing.

My sons went fishing a few weeks ago along with his wife and sister. They all had a blast! They chartered a half day and left bright and early in the morning. Crew on boat was great and my one son caught a 400-500 pound blue marlin. As it was too big, they had to release it but he had a great time fighting it and landing it. Unfortunately, that was the only fish they caught that day, weather was overcast and seas were up a bit due to storms. The price was great and the kids all had a great time. They would do it again in a heartbeat.

We did not catch any fish and we went into it not expecting to which was fine with us. However, our time on the boat was pointless and a waste of time. From the get go, our group knew we had made a mistake. The captain was virtually non existent as he hardly said a word to our group. He drove us straight out and straight back (from reading other reviews, I’m guessing we never made it to the right spot to catch anything). Our deck hand was even worse. He put all the lines in as we watched what he was doing in silence and he retreated to be on his phone. Yes, he initially explained safety things and what to do if we catch something, but that was it. It really felt like he didn’t want to be there and either knew we wouldn’t catch anything or didn’t want to. If you’re looking for something that’s informative and interactive where you learn about fishing in Hawaii whether you catch something or not, do something else.
