We left late, about 11 a.m. were back shortly after two. This was not a 4 1/2 hour tour as advertised. The first stop was interesting. Main aim was selling stuff to tour guests. PuntaMorena was such a rip off! Really old tough taco meat, uncooked sliced whole green pepper on top. Little dish of guacamole 9$, all dishes totally overpriced for low quality. Drink was returned, so bad, only took cash, bill was added up wrongly. Had a very bad taste of a tourist trap and income would be shared with tour guide. Spent too much time there. With driving time, there was not much offered. Tequila tasting was only driven by sales. Nothing is produced there, barrels come from US and France, ingredients from CA, Tequila from main land. Not much to see or learn. Tour guide was really desinterested and didn’t provide much info. Mostly sat silently and passengers tried to pry some info out of him. We spend about $200 for trip, food etc. A big loss for us. Will never return. The image we got from Cozum
Good tour... Nice resort feel.. Great tequila.. Tour guide Philippe and driver Barry Jr. Was great.. Give it a try.. You'll like it too..
With limited time we wanted to see as much of Cozumel as possible whilst staying on the Mayan Riviera and the Cozumel Highlights tour seemed to fit the bill. We were collected from our hotel by minibus and met by the Explora-Tours guides Carlos and Emilio at Playa Del Carmen where they gave us tickets for the 35 minute ferry crossing to Cozumel. There we embarked upon the Island Reef dive boat and enjoyed a super snorkelling experience, with gear and instruction included in the tour. We then boarded an open topped truck with local driver and headed for a beach club in the Punta Sur Eco Beach Park. There we had lunch and a drink, with beer included, which was excellent and time for another swim or snorkel of the fabulous white sandy beach. On our way back to the port we visited the Celarain Lighthouse with its museum, tequila tasting bar and craft stalls. We also stopped at a Mayan ruin and saw saltwater crocodiles in the brackish water, along with a number of different types of bird.
So, so tour. Guide was good. Stops were nothing to write home about. Very disappointed in Mayan ruins stop. We did get a feel for the topography of the island. The ferry ride to Cozumel gives you a different perspective of Cozumel and Playa Del Carmen. Wouldn't do it again.
