We slathered on the mineral-rich mud from the Sabeto Mud Poo all over our bodies, waited for it to dry, and then tried to wash it off in the warm water of a nearby pool. It’s supposed to exfoliate the skin, leaving it silky smooth and glowing. The trick was to get it off. Neither the pools at the village, which were full of mossy rocks and mud like quick sand, were conducive to cleaning. Afterwards, we indulged in a 15-minute, deep-tissue Fijian massage to release tension and increase circulation and flexibility. We had a heck of a time showering and maintaining our balance to remove the rest of the mud out of our bathing suits when we returned to the ship. I left our cabin attendant an apology for the mess and explained where we’d been.

We hired a private car to drive us to the VCC Village, Garden of the Sleeping Giant, The Sabeto Mud Pools and the Hindi Temple. This was a nice day out. The village tour was quite interesting, the gardens were beautiful and the mud pool was a bit of fun. The temple was interesting.
