Overall, the river was high adventure - level 3 & 4 rapids are no foolin'! We were very impressed with the both the Explorenatura team and specifically our guides Eduardo and Fernando. This was a fantastic day! The Explorenatura basecamp itself is a charming gem - they were playing laidback fun music when we arrived, and we were able to get a sneak peak at the cute cabins they are building which will one day allow visitors to stay over night at their facility to maximize their adventuring. Our guides for the whitewater rafting trip were Eduardo and Fernando. They were knowledgeable, wise and and also quite entertaining (and spoke excellent English). I appreciated that Eduardo started our trip with an excellent training session to be sure our group of five knew how to work as a team, which led to an enjoyable experience for everyone. They also were both passionate about the preservation of Costa Rica's natural beauty, and saw that their company had a responsibility to help people in

It was a great experiance with lot of fun. The nature is amazing aroud the River. The guides were very profecionnal and the organization of the Tour was great. I loved the lunch on the River bank. I can only recommend both River and company ??

I did rafting at the Pacuare with Explornatura, they are very professionals and it was so much fun. A vert reccomendable activity!

My husband and I had an amazing time rafting down the Rio Pacuare with Maikol and Julian! Maikol was personable, funny and informative, scouting ahead in a kayak before we would get to each rapid. Julian was an amazing and patient teacher - especially to my husband who had never rafted before - and super knowledgeable about the plants and birds we saw on the river, as well as the river itself. He taught us about the dam proposed in the 90's that never got built - and good thing too! This is a beautiful river, and sections of the forest on the banks are totally untouched. We saw toucans! When we stopped for a break, the two of them secretly prepared an awesome lunch for us out of thin air! Delicious burritos with every possible ingredient, pineapple, fresh sour guava "cas" juice, and more that I forget. It's possible they do the secret lunch for everybody, but they made us feel so special as it was our honeymoon which we really appreciated! Maikol took some amazing photos of us with my

We drove our own car from the capital up to turrialba and then followed the ExplorNatura bus with the raft to their drop-in point near Tres Equis. You could combine this - with an extra day - with a volcano visit. My 18 year old daughter made the trip with me. A rafting trip like this - through CLass 4 rapids - should be fun but also serious - because, well, there's a lot of Class 4 rapids on the Pacuare. Our trip was fast, intense, exciting, yet did feel safe at all times. Our guide Michael and the kayak guardian Julian had a good blend of informative, watchful at all times, and joking around during the calmer moments. It's a really interesting trip - one of the best parts was stopping to let some indigenous tribespeople hitchhike with us across the water because their wire bridge was busted. Very cool. the team's attitude was right on the mark: thoughtful, respectful, humorous, and very knowledgeable about the river. Having lived six years in Costa Rica, I've tried different rafting
