MalaMala Rattray’s Camp wildlife safaris are our number one priority. A maximum of only four guests per safari vehicle is the norm and a flexible operation ensures your adventures into the bush will be intimate and unforgettable. An experienced and proficient ranger will serve as your guide and host, offering a level of service second to none. Sumptuous meals can be enjoyed in a variety of locations including the “boma,” the deck, the dining room or in the privacy and comfort of your own suite. The Land Rover vehicles used are open air with no rooms or windows. There will be times these are taken off road. Please be aware that these are wild animals and even though they may seem relaxed it’s important that they are treated with respect in regard to how close the vehicles are to them. Many trees on the reserve have sharp thorns. When driving off-road, be on the lookout for branches which may be in the way – your ranger will do everything to alert you to these. Hold on to the bars when off-road, when traversing rough terrain, hold on to the bar in front of you to stabilize your body, making the ride more comfortable. Don’t stand up while driving or at any sighting: the cats are especially habituated to the shape of the Land Rover that is presented to them; by standing up, you are altering the shape that they are used to, which may cause them to become agitated and uncomfortable. If you feel that you need to stretch your legs, do not hesitate to tell your ranger and he will stop for a break. Never stand when the vehicle is moving. Stay on the vehicle unless instructed or permitted to do otherwise: if you wish for a comfort break while out on the reserve, please inform your ranger and he will happily oblige.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival
Upon arrival in Johannesburg airport, you will be met by a representative holding a sign with your name on it. They will assist with luggage and transfer you to the Federal Air lounge where you will wait to board your flight. Specific times confirmed upon booking confirmation, however, below is the typical schedule with Federal Air; Daily from JNB Tambo to MalaMala11:30am-1:00pm or 1:00pm-2:30pm.
Upon arrival a representative from MalaMala will meet and transfer you to your accommodations.
Four (4) nights’ accommodations at Rattray’s Camp in a Luxury Suite. Stays are inclusive of day and night game drives, walking safaris, all meals and snacks, all beverages including alcoholic and non-alcoholic (excludes premium brands) and limited laundry service. Once you have checked in the remainder of your afternoon is at leisure before departing on your afternoon game drive.
Four (4) nights’ accommodations at Rattray’s Camp in a Luxury Suite. Stays are inclusive of day and night game drives, walking safaris, all meals and snacks, all beverages including alcoholic and non-alcoholic (excludes premium brands) and limited laundry service.
Meals included: Dinner.
Day 2
MalaMala Game Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park
Participate in any of the lodge game drives or walking safaris. A typical day on safari may look similar to the below:
- 05:30 - Wakeup call
- 06:00 - Morning game activity
- 09:30 - Return from game activity and enjoy breakfast
- 11:00 - Possible mid-morning game activity closer to the lodge or spa treatment (if available)
- 13:00 - Lunch
- 15:00 - Afternoon tea on camp deck followed by afternoon game activity and sundowners in the bush
- 19-20:00 - Return from the afternoon activity and either freshen up first or head straight to dinner

Day 3
MalaMala Game Reserve, Greater Kruger National Park
Participate in any of the lodge game drives or walking safaris.

Participate in any of the lodge game drives or walking safaris.

Day 5
Departure
Possible early morning game drive before your transfer to the airport. Exact time of your transfer will be advised the night prior. Upon arrival in Johannesburg a representative will greet you and transfer you to the airport for your onward flight.
