Arrival
To ensure that guests remain safe from the very outset of their vacation, we will be introducing new measures within our arrival experience
Upon arrival at Blue Waters Resort & Spa, a hand sanitizer dispenser affixed to the inner post of the porte-cochere is available for guests’ use. The sanitizer accessible on the property contains a minimum of 62% alcohol, in accordance with international standards. Check-in will be conducted by our Front Office employees at socially-distanced seating areas in the lobby.
Guests are encouraged to take advantage of expedited online check-in 48 hours prior to arrival. This will facilitate the ability to access the beach 30 minutes after departing the airport.
Guest Rooms
Guest will arrive into rooms that have been vacant for a minimum of 48 hours.
Upon arrival and during guests’ stays, all areas of our guest rooms are thoroughly cleaned and then sanitized after every clean, according to our standard procedures in order limit the risk of cross-contamination.
Employees are required to always wear personal protective equipment (masks, gloves and shoe covers) during cleaning to mitigate risk to all guests and employees within the hotel. Additionally, room attendants will sanitize their hands and change all PPE immediately after leaving each room.
In the event that a guest exhibits flu-like or Covid-19-like symptoms, Housekeeping will provide a towel/linen delivery service until a certified medical practitioner clears the guest. The Blue Waters Resort and Spa has a dedicated team of medical practitioners on call available 24hrs for our guests.
Departure rooms are completely cleaned and sanitized, including ventilation and air conditioning units to reduce any risk of cross-contamination to guests and employees.
Rooms will remain vacant for 48 hours post departure while being cleaned and sanitized in anticipation of the next arriving guests.
Laundry Services
In accordance with our stringent internal protocols, guests’ personal items are always washed
separately to limit any risk of cross-contamination. Guestroom linens and towels are washed using
only the highest quality chemicals at the highest permissible temperatures to ensure thorough
cleaning and therefore eliminate risk to our guests and employees.
Restaurants and Bars
There will be hand sanitizer stations at all restaurant entrances and in proximity of all bars and
lounges. Also, to minimize the risk of cross-contamination, food buffets have been replaced with
various à la carte menus created for each restaurant and meal period.
Outlets will be equipped with supplies for continuous cleaning and sanitizing of high contact areas
such and bar counters.
All table settings will be thoroughly sanitized by our teams before and after each use, following
international standards. All cutlery, plates and glassware are washed in an industrial grade
dishwasher and will be sanitized before and after each use, as per local and international standards.
Cutlery and glassware will be stored in sanitized storage areas and delivered upon seating at your
table.
To maintain space for social distancing (1.5 meters or 6 feet apart) during higher occupancy periods,
more restaurants will be opened and an additional breakfast outlet will be made available. For
breakfast, lunch and dinner, all restaurants will have a reduced capacity in order to facilitate social
distancing between tables. The same social distancing protocol will be applied between bar stools,
lounging area tables and beach/pool loungers.
In Room Dining
We’ve added the option of private in-room dining to guests who prefer to stay in their rooms.
Guests will have access to our daily food and beverage ‘no-contact delivery’ service of all meals
during meal periods.
Guests with flu-like or Covid-19-like symptoms will be accommodated through the aforementioned
service. In addition, we’re introducing a pool/beach lounger food service from 12pm – 5pm.
Kitchens
Employees will be following ServSafe guidelines in all Food and Beverage areas. All equipment and
workspaces will be washed and sanitized after each use. In addition, ready to eat food, as per usual
will be handled with utensils and prepared with gloves which are changed after each task.
The Spa at Blue Waters
Social distancing protocols will be applied in the Spa waiting area and to the Spa pool loungers. Hand
sanitizer dispensers will be placed at the entrance for incoming and outgoing guests and employees.
Hand sanitizer stations will also be located at the Spa’s reception desk, at the refreshment area and
near the pool. Pool loungers and surrounding contact areas will be will be sanitized several times
daily.
All facial treatments have been discontinued and spa therapists will wear masks for all other
treatments.
Treatment rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized after each treatment, in addition the
rooms will not be booked back to back to allow time for proper cleaning and sanitization to occur.
The salon will reduce the number of simultaneous services to ensure social distancing protocols are
adhered to
Water Sports
Employees will sanitize equipment before and after loaning to guests and before and after lessons
with guests. A hand sanitizer dispenser will be located in the Water Sports hut for guest use.
Gift Shop
Employees will clean the countertop multiple times per day with disinfectant. Guests are to observe
social distancing while in the shop and sanitizer dispenser will be in the shop.
Kids’ Club
Capacity of children attending the Club and Club activities will be reduced in order to follow social
distancing protocols and in order to limit contact between guests. Hard surfaces will be sanitized
before arrival into the Club and after departure. Toys, where feasible, will be sanitized and/or
cleaned before and after each session. Regular rigorous health and safety protocols will continue to
be adhered to by our trained child care attendants.
Fitness Center
A maximum of 8 persons will be allowed into the Fitness Center per hour. Guests are encouraged to
sanitize exercise machines before and after usage with the sanitizing solution and wipes provided.
Additionally, the fitness center will be sanitized by our team regularly on a schedule.
Should there be timing conflicts that don’t allow for use a sign will be put in place.
Public Areas
Increased resort wide sanitization schedules have been implemented in an effort to reduce the risk
of contamination on high touch and high traffic communal areas. Our public areas will be equipped
with electrostatic spray dispensers, in addition to increased frequency of scheduled cleaning and
sanitizing by public area attendants to include pools, lounges, gazebos, furniture, door knobs, light
switches, door handles, the Spa, the Fitness Center, dining areas, the Kids’ Club foyer and all other
areas frequented by both guests and employees.
Hand sanitizer stations will be affixed around all public areas for guest use in addition to sanitizing
wipes.
Signage and hand sanitizer dispensers will be added to all water stations to remind guests to sanitize
their hands before using the station.
Limiting Surface Contact
Foot door openers have been installed for the entrances of high traffic areas like public bathrooms,
the Fitness Center, the Gift Shop, Front Desk and offices to lessen instances of surface touching.
Public bathrooms have sensor-activated handwash stations and sensor sanitizer dispensers.
Blue Waters Team
To protect our team members and guests, employees will undergo a temperature check before the
start of each shift, before entering the property. Those showing flu-like symptoms will be sent for
medical evaluation. Hand sanitizer will be provided for incoming and outgoing employees and all
must wash their hands before the start of their shifts and throughout the time at work. Shared
equipment and tools will be disinfected before each shift handover.
Sensor-activated taps and hand sanitizer dispensers will be installed in bathrooms. All employees will
be required to wear face masks where necessary and in accordance with local legislation, for the
protection of guests, fellow employees and for their own protection.
All employees will receive orientation on newly implemented hygiene protocols as well as on-going
training on hygiene and sanitation practices such as frequent hand washing, use of hand sanitizer,
proper usage and disposal of PPE. Employees are also reminded of these practices through the
display of signage in back of house areas and offices.
Communication
We firmly believe that transparency and communication are of utmost importance in order to keep
us all safe and healthy during this period of Covid-19. Should a employees or guest feel unwell, or be
concerned about another person displaying flu-like symptoms, he/she should communicate this to a
resort manager immediately so that the appropriate measures can be taken. In the case of a
potentially infected guest, he/she will be asked to self-isolate and a certified medical practitioner will
then be called immediately. In the case of an employee, he/she will be asked to stay or return home
and self-isolate until an all-clear can be given by a certified medical practitioner.
Q. How many guests do you think you can safely accommodate to maintain social distancing
protocols?
A. We think up to 120 guests can safely be accommodated (approx. 50%). This will be in place until
such time that these measures can safely be removed.
Q. How can guests safely social distance at Blue Waters?
A. We are set up very well for effective social distancing with the variety of accommodations and the
way we are spread out. We have 3 beaches where we spread out sunloungers to a comply with
social distancing already. We also have 7 pools, with each Cove Suite block having its own pool. We
will have a maximum of 3 Cove Suites & The Penthouse occupied at any one time, hence enabling us
to social distance in this area. Villa guests can also stay separate from other guests during their stay.
Our restaurants are a very good size, so we can easily spread out tables to a safe distance. This is the
same with our bar and terrace areas.
