General Manager’s Thoughts
As you can well imagine, I cannot wait for the day that travel gets going and we can begin to welcome visitors to our beautiful island again. It has been a difficult time for everyone, with the tourism and travel industry getting hit hardest. We have however been using this ‘quieter time’ at the Inn to concentrate on repairs and refurbishments with some exciting additions to our service offerings planed for the winter season.
The health and safety of our guests and team members has always been, and always will be our top priority. In light of the health and hygiene challenges that a world with the COVID-19 virus presents, we have also taken the time to do a deep dive into updating our already thorough cleaning guidelines and developing new and improved safety protocols to protect or guests and staff alike. The result of which is our Pinwheel of Protocols or PSP (Please see attached)
I am an eternal optimist, but I do think travel will take a few more months to return to some kind of normalcy. If we continue doing what we are told however, it will happen sooner than later. We have already started to see worldwide announcements of border openings and airline start-up dates.
It is safe to say that despite COVID-19, people’s appetite for travel won’t go away forever. I think very soon we will all be traversing through the cleanest airports you have ever seen and flying on airplanes which will be the most sterile spaces in the world.
From my point of view, based on the size and design of our 55 all suite property, we have in effect been practicing social distancing for 60 years. This is a huge advantage for us. Lots of spread out facilities, wide-open grounds, ample place for all on our 700ft beach, intimate dining, and certainly no lines to been seen anywhere on property.
In the meanwhile, we have been keeping in close contact with our past guests and doing our utmost to remain front of mind in the social media and press arenas. Communicating with our travel partners has also been a big part of our daily routines.
If we all continue working together, I am very confident that we will look even better coming out of COVID-19! We are ready to go!!!
