The Brando

The Brando

TETIAROA PRIVATE ISLAND , Arue, French Polynesia

Insider Tip

Tetiaroa was once Marlon Brando’s personal retreat. He was passionate about preserving Tetiaroa’s cultural richness, natural beauty, and incredible biodiversity. The Brando is that dream brought to life.

Destination Entry Requirements

Please review for the most up to date entry protocols, testing and quarantine requirements. This is critical as many destinations may require vaccinations and/or testing prior to, at arrival and/or during your clients stay in addition to requiring the purchase of supplemental country specific travel insurance. Some destinations also require clients be in possession of a pre-travel authorization at departure. Also, please re-verify entry requirements prior to client departure. Classic Vacations is not responsible for possible denied entry or mandatory quarantine due to improper documentation.

Property Location
The atoll of Tetiaroa lies 30 miles north of the main island of Tahiti. Access to the island, and the resort, are by Air Tetiaroa from Tahiti-Faa’a International Airport. There is a private departure lounge at the airport, from which guests board the twice-daily flight, which takes about 15 minutes’ flying time.
Polynesian royal retreat
Originally a retreat for Polynesian royalty the private island of Tetiaroa is an exquisite eco oasis with a crystalline blue lagoon.
At The Brando, the thirty-five private villas are designed to reflect the elegant simplicity of the island itself. Indoor and outdoor spaces seem to merge into one, with natural materials and soft earth tones. In addition to having its own private plunge pool and furnished deck, every villa is air-conditioned and has WiFi access, with a separate sitting room, walk-through dressing area, media room, and a bathroom(s) that features an outdoor bathtub. The 30 One-Bedroom Villas are 1,033 square feet in size. The 4 Two-Bedroom Villas, at 1808 square feet, have a larger sitting room, private dining area with seating for six, kitchen and larger outdoor living space. The second bedroom is above the first. The Three Bedroom Villa has the same features as the two-bedroom but is 2,648 square feet, with the third bedroom separated by a wooden walkway, and the pool and deck area are larger. Two of the one-bedroom villas are wheelchair accessible.
Enjoy a relaxing spa treatment at the Varua Te Ora Polynesian Spa, which features treatment rooms, a hamman, cold plunge with waterfall, tea room, and unique massage bungalow in the treetops. There is also a 24-hour fitness center, tennis court, swimming pool, concierge desk, library, Kids’ Club, boutique and pearl shop. The resort shares the island with Tetiaroa Society, a nonprofit organization that hosts researchers and undertakes programs to protect the atoll and educate students and visitors about its ecosystems. Tetiaroa Society has a research station facility on the motu of Onetahi, where the resort is situated. Dedicated staff are available for organizing special events, celebrations and weddings.
The Brando has three restaurants and two bars, as well as 24-hour in-villa service. Beachcomber Café is the main, all-day restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual beach setting. Les Mutinés, open for dinner only, serves gourmet cuisine and boasts an extensive wine cellar. Nami is the resort’s intimate teppanyaki restaurant. It is located inside the Beachcomber Café. Bob’s Bar, named after Marlon Brando’s friend, is located on the main beach; Te Manu Bar is a unique second-story bar that has seating nooks connected by walkways in the treetops.
Unique Dining Options
Private dinners on the beach with musicians and dancers, a meal prepared by our chef at the guests’ villa, or a gourmet chef-prepared beach barbecue are all available. The Brando is also pleased to offer a range of vegan selections created by chef Kelvin Au-Ieong.
