Traveler Reviews

The Kuekenhof Tulip Festival is simply divine. If you love flowers, you haven’t lived til you’ve seen what the Dutch do at these beautiful gardens for a 60 day period from mid March to mid May each year. Acres and acres of brilliantly colored and variegated species of tulips. You feel like someone dropped you into heaven. I can’t find words to describe it. And the Dutch are so full of life and dedicated to this festival that it is done so well. Large crowds but you don’t feel it. Joyful. The paths are plentiful, the facilities are well conceived even down to the availability of cleanly restrooms. Talk about a bucket list item!

We spent several hours touring these gardens in April and they were overwhelming in their beauty. The tulips, hyacinths, daffodils! All the different displays! The souvenir shop! We just enjoyed the beauty of the flowers and the smell of them. Lovely place to tour, I highly recommend it.

Naufal took us to see the tulips in the Keukenhof Gardens and then out to the Giethoorn village for our boat ride. He had a great sense of humor and many interesting details to make our trip even better. Despite some windy, cold and sometimes rainy weather, he made the trip enjoyable. We were picked up at our hotel, driven to the gardens and then to the village. He described things along the way and history. What I really appreciated was his understanding my disappointment that the tulip fields had just been "deadheaded" and I longed to see the beautiful colorful fields. Upon our return from the village, he found about twenty or so rows of tulips still left, and stopped to let me get a little of my wish and take pictures. I will be forever grateful for the understanding. He was such a uplifting gentleman.

We thought our tour was going to be a large bus trip, but it turned out to be a private one, which was great. The town of Geithorn was a lovely surprise. The small little village is canal only, so it is quaint, quiet and beautiful. Keukenhof is a must & it lived up to all expectations. Our guide, Alamud from Xalam tours was lively and knowledgable and made the day very enjoyable.

It is hard to find one tour in Amsterdam with these two places, Kukenhof Gardens and Giethoorn!! Our Family tour was Fantastic!!
