Traveler Reviews

This was a great tour! Very interesting to learn more about the bees and the honey was delicious! Our guide was obviously very passionate about what he does.

What a unique opportunity to see honeybees up close and to learn about their amazing abilities -- not only to make honey, but to pollinate plants and help the environment in many ways. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and personable and I came away with the sense that bees have much more intelligence than we give them credit for. Another great part of the tour was tasting different flavors of honey and visiting the store where many interesting honey-related gifts are available for sale. I highly recommend Big Island Bees if you're visiting the Big Island.

This tour was so much fun. My daughter and I participated in the tour last Friday morning and we learned so much about bees and how they create honey. I was amazed at the experience of the beekeeper and how comfortable he was with thousands of bees all around him. He was also very funny and did a great job with his presentation. We were provided with tea and macadamia nut tarts on arrival and then tasted several different honeys at the end of the tour. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone in the Kona area. It was great to do something very different and learn a lot in the process too!

We loved this tour so much!! Joe was so knowledgable and the honey was delicious!! It was a unique experience on the big island that we really enjoyed.

This was a fantastic tour. We were greeted with tea and macadamia nut tarts! Learned a ton about bee history, conservation and biology. The tour ended with a honey tasting that was a perfect way to end the tour. Highly recommend.
