For many Cuban families, films at MDC's Tower Theater were an introduction to American culture in addition to pure entertainment. Soon MDC's Tower Theater altered its programming to include English-language films with Spanish subtitles, and eventually Spanish-language films. It is still operating after 93 years.Stop At: Bay of Pigs Museum, 1821 SW 9th Street, at SW 1

Traveler Reviews

We loved our tour guide, Angel. He took us to places where the locals were, he bought us authentic foods and ice cream, and told us a great deal about Cuban history. We also walked along the tourist section of “Calle Ocho” and went through some very colorful shops and galleries. This is a fabulous tour. Note: Call ahead to ascertain the correct starting point. It was printed erroneously on our ticket.I wish I could upload a photo but this site won’t let me (my photos are too big.)

I had a great time tasting the food and visiting the shops - the live music was a real highlight. Thanks Angel for taking me round!

Very informative tour. Guide had a lot of knowledge. Enjoyed seeing someone roll tobacco leaves into cigars, the Cuban ice cream and art work. Started with a Cuban sandwich which I did not eat as I had just eaten lunch. The explanation said only there would be snacks.

Although enthusiastic about Cuban-American culture, our guide continuously engaged in extremely inappropriate far right wing political propaganda. Also, we were "treated" to the worst "cubano" ever near our meetup location.
