Overview
ItineraryThe Kayak Tour is up to three hours of fun exploring the Dolphin Sanctuary and Ships Graveyard Maritime Heritage Trail. One of Adelaide's "secret spots" the tour is located just 30 minutes from the Adelaide CBD and is an area of surpassing beauty. The sheltered mangrove lined creeks are home to a fascinating array of marine life, birds and the Port River Dolphins. The Ship's Graveyard is a unique feature of the area with spectacular relics from the past which have been abandoned in the river. All of which make for an amazing adventure, and best of all, kayaking is the most environmentally sensitive way to explore and interact with the dolphins. When the Port River Dolphins come to play it is a memory you will treasure forever. "Paddling with the Dolphins" has been voted one of the top FOUR MUST DO activities in Adelaide! Traveler Reviews

A truly enjoyable morning in near perfect weather. Our guide (Jake) was fantastic and the paddle into the mangroves was memorable. Highly recommended to anyone.

Great day on the water with a helpful and knowledgeable instructor. Good quality kayaks that are comfortable to use and we even Saw a few dolphins too

what a great 3 hours wasnt lucky enough to see dolphins but still had a laugh and fun times . We headed out through the mangroves and to the shipwrecks lots of paddling time and such a good experience .

We had the best day thanks to our tour guide Phil. After a safety instruction we headed out onto the water and immediately spotted dolphins feeding in the shallows. Our tour guide Phil changed up the tour so we could follow the dolphins at the required safe distance. We then went on to see and learn the history of the various shipwrecks. Then a slow paddle through the mangroves. All in all a fantastic experience.

This is a great activity to do - and not only for visitors. As local residents we wish we had done this earlier as you get to see 'behind the scenes' at Garden Island, going through the mangroves and on to the shipwrecks. Our leaders Mike and Emily were great; friendly and patient with everyone. While needing a certain level of fitness, don't think you need to be an expert to do this tour as it is done at a steady pace. You do get wet inside, though, from the paddles so don't wear your best clothes! It has encouraged us to return to use the kayaks again on our own - thanks again!
