Traveler Reviews

I have just returned from a 4 day trip into Desolation Sound with Wild Root Journeys and it was an amazing experience. A long time dream come true. I am not an experiences paddler, but Silke's clear instructions made me comfortable in the kayak and made me experience the strength in my body I wasn't sure I had. Great equipment is provided, from storage bags to tents to kayaks. Silke provided excellent guidance, fantastic food, humour, and lots of sanitation in the time of COVID. She is extremely respectful of the nature we were in, and shared her knowledge of the area geographically and culturally. Smart decision making on the spot to account for changes in the weather, the wind, the currents, she really made us feel at easy even when the waters became a bit rougher. We moved with purpose! Thank you Silke and Kaily for your company, your joy and your ability to embrace everybody with ease and comfort. I want to go out again with you to explore the outer coast!

Since my broken group island paddle with Wild root journeys I knew there wasnt any other way id want to spend my birthday! With full confidence that our guide Silke would practice all social distancing and sanitization practices I felt safe to invite my family. From the start to finish this journey was organized and informative. My siblings had all different levels of paddling experience and Silkes patience really shone bright that meant for a comfortable paddle and pace. Along the way we got to see plenty star fish, eagles and seals! When ready for our delicious lunch Silke found us a private beach to dock and enjoy the views away from crowds. To our delight on our paddle back Silke shared Indigenous history of where we were passing by. Overall this was a perfect day to connect with family and nature and will be cherished for many years to come!! Cant speak highly enough of Wild root journeys and the fantastic staycation celebration it turned out to be.

I had an excellent time on my 6 hr kayak tour of Deep Cove. I highly recommend West Root Journeys!!!!

I had an amazing day kayaking with Silke. She is an experienced guide and shared her interesting knowledge about kayaking and the environment. You can see that she loves her job :)

Beautiful day out on the water with Silke - who is so sincere, thoughtful, and knowledgeable! Best kayaking instruction I've ever received. Comfortable and welcomed as part of the queer community. Thank you!
