Traveler Reviews

Jian was an excellent tour guide - super friendly, very engaging, and knowledgeable about Filipino history from the pre-colonial through WWII and up to now. On our tour it was a group of 8. It was very well paced, with breaks at just the right times, and substantive, covering all the major monuments and spaces. Jian had a great way of adapting his talk to the interests and backgrounds of those in the group, which ranged from university professors to retirees, and connecting Filipino history to wider global issues. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, and fuel up before - we started at 1:30 and ended around 5:30!

I had a great time during this tour. I felt like I was able to learn a lot about the history of Manila. Jian was an excellent guide and I can’t wait to come back to the Philippines so I can take advantage of the other tours they offer. Thank you Jian!

The tour was really informative and well balanced. I particularly enjoyed the way the guide was both knowledgeable and friendly, whilst being careful to ensure we were comfortable. My mother is disabled, so I was a little worried about her ability to do this tour. I needn't have worried. He was very courteous, and ensured she had a great time. The tour itself was extremely informative and very interesting, and packed as much as possible in a short amount of time. As a professional archaeologist, I was very impressed and pleased. Highly recommended.

I absolutely loved the tour with Jian, he was so interesting and easy company. The tour was full of great sites, sounds and stories. In particular, Rizal, Casa Manila and the silky tofu taho!

While visiting Manila on business, my plans changed and I booked a last minute tour with Jian. He was very accommodating and provided helpful recommendations for traveling to the meet-up location. This was a wonderful introduction to the history of the Philippines and was extensive, but not overwhelming. The pace was good and there was a balance of walking and air conditioning, which is important in this heat and humidity! Jian is very knowledgeable and weaved in story telling, facts, and his personal experience throughout the tour. It really helped cement the history in my memory- later that night, I recounted much of it to my husband as I was excited to share all that I learned. Jian was extremely helpful and went above and beyond and provided restaurant recommendations around my hotel. I highly recommend this tour and am looking forward to doing one of his food tours before I leave!
