Traveler Reviews

Our guide, Kris, was informative and easy-going. We were very full and content by end of tour. Excellent balance of delicious food and cocktails. A great way to enjoy Kona!

This was a great way to get oriented to Kona. The guides gave good historical anecdotes. The food was tasty and plentiful. The tour included a stop at a local farmers market to sample some unique fruits from the area. It was a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Enjoyable walk with a small group. Around seven stops with usually a type of drink with a food that is known for that establishment. We ate a variety of foods from chowder, pizza, gelato, fried fish, etc. with different drinks to accompany the small plate. There was alcohol and non alcoholic drinks. The plates and drinks were all very small. We did not go away stuffed, but certainly not full or drunk. We had the most amazing Mia Tia but when we went back to the establement to have a private cocktail...it was awefull! They made it real strong so obviously they did not put much alchol when we were on the tour. Was hoping for coupons but only one place offered this. The host and hostess were very informative. They also gave other advice about things on the island. They gave us a little back pack bag which we could have went without unless the point was to keep us together. They had put taffy in our bags but they were melted by the time we were done. Would I recommend it?

My husband and I have been on 20+ food tours around the world and this was definitely one of our favorites. I was a little concerned about a previous review in which the reviewer opined that the food and drink wasn’t as expected (amount wise), however, we did not believe this was the case. There was a ton of food and plenty of drink - both non-alcoholic and alcoholic. Several stops, each unique in the offerings. The guides provided information about the establishment and the food/drink provided. We had a great time and would highly recommend.

This tour has set high aspirations (and set high expectations) but does not quite deliver. The hosts were nice but the food and alcohol offerings at the various stops were very sparse by sampling menus standards. At Mi’s (the Italian place) they divided one small pizza and Caesar Salad among 8 people. At the Kona Inn, guests were given 3oz of Calamari and a 3oz Mai Tai. Based on the reviews we saw, we were expecting generous offerings of food and drink. We took an Uber from Capt. Cook because we did not want to drink and drive. That was unnecessary. You leave the tour feeling like you’ve had some snacks and a drink and begin looking for more.
