Traveler Reviews

Fine memorial of the battle of bastogne also check the museum next door well worth a look Note not well known on the northern side of memorial in crypt is some important art free entry

Having a parent who fought in the Battle of the Bulge, this was a must do tour for us. The Ardennes Cemetery and the Bastogne War Museum were outstanding.
The guide was somewhat knowledgeable about the battle, but could honestly have given much more information throughout the journey. He filled us in with an overview on the way to Bastogne, but said little to nothing on the return trip about the battle. He also left us in the midst of Brussels with no idea how to get back to our hotel. The least he could have done is gotten us back to the tour office from where we began the day. This proved to be problematic without a map at our disposal.
There was also a huge miscommunication re the length of the tour. The voucher said it was a 10 hour tour, but the guide planned for a 12 hour day. As a result, we were late returning to Brussels causing us to miss our dinner reservations compounded by lack of good directions to aid us in navigating Brussels.

This was an amazing trip with fabulous detail including a well organized book of facts about the Battle of the Bulge which cost more American lives then D Day. Stefaan weaves through history, the region, sacred ground, battle fields and his own family experiences to add depth to what you see. The sites include the American Cemetery at Liege (sacred), Bastogne, the crossroads-what the battle was for, the Memorial, Museum both exceptionally done, the Ardenne Forest-Jacks Woods where the 101st-Band of Brother dug in, you can stand in their fox holes and only imagine.. then to Durbay a beautiful little city for a nice dinner. The day was long but when your seeing what your seeing it goes by in the blink of an eye. If you have an interest in the historic battle fields, walking the geography and with the spirits of the battle this is a must. And the Belgium people are still appreciative, not to mention the beauty of their country. *Tangent here-if you haven't seen a "Belgium Blue" you don

This was one of the best tours I have taken, largely in part due to Stephan’s excellent depiction of the events leading up the Battle of the Bulge. Stephan was so well prepared, we each had maps to help show geographically the details leading up to significant battles. From Brussels we started at an American military cemetery. Such a poignant reminder. We walked through the “Band of Brothers” foxholes and learned about the 101st Airborne valiant efforts to protect the city of Bastogne. We went to the impressive Bastogne Memorial and Museum (which was excellent!). The museum was well laid out and interactive. Then we ended the evening in the most charming town, with narrow cobblestone streets, a river, castle, and delicious food. You won’t find that in a tourbook. This is a Tour is a must for anyone, regardless of nationality or whether you are a WWII history buff or not. Huge thanks to Stephan for bring history to life!
