Home to tales of skulduggery and warfare, this famous landmark is an unmissable piece of Charlotte Amalie’s history. It was originally called Skytsborg Tower, meaning ‘gun tower’ in Danish. For several years, the tower was part of a private residence and was later the centrepiece of a hotel called the Inn at Blackbeard’s Castle.Duration: 15 minutesStop At: Fort Christian, Veterans Dr Emancipation Garden, Charlotte Amalie St. ThomasWhen you arrive at Fort Christian you’ll be immediately struck by its bright red exterior. A Gothic revival building, this stone fortification was built by the Danish settlers on Saint Thomas between 1672 and 1680 and is one of the most striking buildings in the city.Duration: 15 minutes
