Traveler Reviews

We live in Adelaide and wanted to experience out of the way boutique vineyards and wineries that were pushing the envelope to producing small batch quality wines. Matthew our guide arranged to take us to four family wineries that allowed us to experience the highs and lows of producing high quality wines that the multinational wine makers focused only on profits. Matthew’s knowledge of the region the winemakers and the process of wine making provided an exceptional understanding with layman terms to technical wine making challenges. This is a one of a kind experience. Matthew looked after everything from wine tasting charges when they applied to lunch to transport. Whether you live in Adelaide or are visiting the Barossa if you don’t do this tour you haven’t experienced the best.

Only a small group of 3. My daughter and I were on our first holiday together since before she had become a mother (13 and 10 year olds) and she wanted to see the Barossa. I have been on many a wine tour in the different states of Australia and in other countries. Choosing Small Batch Tours and then meeting Matt proved to be a wonderful choice. He is very polite and very friendly - and knows his wines. We drank, we ate, we laughed and sometimes laughed till we cried. A great day of wine, stories and friendship. Worth every cent and more mate!!

Our experience with Matt will go down as one of the best times we have had as a family. It was well thought out, well organised and beautifully executed. Matt is the consummate conversationalist, engaging and informative delighting both adults and the children with his stories and anecdotes. Each winery we visited was unique, with friendly, welcoming staff and every wine tasting was individual. Special mention to the team at Z wines for treating the kids to their own little food and beverage experience that they thoroughly enjoyed. We highly recommend taking one of Matt’s tours, you won’t de disappointed!

What a great day and a lot of fun with Matt...his knowledge and stories were a great start to our trip and then he took us to a variety of wineries and iconic locations that made for a fantastic experience...highly recommended for those that have a short time in the area or want to see and experience a few off the track places in the Barossa.

What a great day! Matt picked us up at our hotel in a beautiful Mercedes van. His knowledge about Adelaide, wine and the regions was impressive and interesting. We got to go to smaller wineries that were passionate and authentic about what they did without all the arrogance of the big name brands. The wineries we went to were expertly selected, our lunch was delicious and in a beautiful location and the whole day was educational and fun. Thanks Matt! Ps I now love red wine
