Myself and three friends chose the kayaking experience and it was one of the most memorable trips of our time on holiday. Our guide Sai was truly excellent and was a great representative for his country and company *How the day was structured* We were initially picked up at our hotel, along with a number of other people who had various experiences booked with Laos group tours. We were then transferred to another minibus before arriving by the waters edge were we began kayaking back down the Mekong. The Kayaking was stunning - there is no other way to describe it. We had stops off at a small village and some caves. The group was just my three friends and our guide Sai Following this we had lunch (which was super nice) , before being driven an hour and a half to the Kuang Si Waterfall. Booked the tour knowing there would be alot of travel time. I asked the gentlemen very specifically what type of vehicles we would travel in, he informed me it was a nice van, like the ones I see everywhere, so I book. Note that this was not a "budget" or "bare bones" tour. That morning..over half hour late, a old beat up large tuk tuk type vehicle arrives to pick me up..to go the over one hour ride to the river drop in for the kayaking part. I get on the phone with the boss man and he claims that this vehicle is only for 10 minutes to take me to the meeting point. Bold faced lie! I sat inside the back of the piece of garbage, meanwhile the other two young men travelling with us had to sit in the open back cab of this vehicle for over an hour!! Insane!! We get there, and the canoes are so old and beat up I am far from confident they even float!! But..they stick us in there and tell us to "go that way"! The guide we had was a nice enough guy and clearly was simply an employee
