Overview
In the morning they picked us up at the hotel in Luang Prabang and brought by minivan to embark in our private boat. After a 1 and 1/2 hour cruise upstream the Mekong River, with a brief stop in a Rice Wine making village, we arrived at Pak Ou Caves. Pak Ou is not only a particular destination but also a place which shelters historic cultural values. Visiting the cave, you will see that this is the home for thousands Buddhist statues with numerous dimensions. After a picnic lunch and a short rest, we will move to Kuang Si Waterfall. On the way, you will see the picturesque landscape of the country with villages and verdant paddy fields. Don’t forget to take some nice photos! Kuang Si Waterfall is considered as one of the most attractive destination in Laos. Visitors reaching here will have opportunity to contemplate the natural beauty. If weather permits, we can immerse into the water, swim for entertainment. That absolutely will be a nice experience to visitors. Transfer back to hotel in Luang Prabang.

Traveler Reviews

I recommend this trip if you have little time in LP. I am glad we choose the slow boat, to go by boat to the buddhas cave. Very relaxing. We felt we had enough time at all our stops. Just the last one in a Hmong village was a waste of time. The lunch was good, a buffet style was tasty options and nice views on the river. It belonged to the elephant thing, but I you do not want to you won't see elephants. Great day, very nice guide! I had some trouble with communications with the tour operator. In the end it turned out to be a well organized trip. They will pick you up from the hotel after 08:00 AM, and we we on our boar at 08:45 AM.

This tour is amaaazzinngggg value for money!! We started with a gorgeous boat ride to a Rice Wine farm in a traditional village, and then took the boat to the famous Pak Ou caves where our tour guide gave us a really interesting talk about Laos, it's history and culture, and the significance of the caves. We had time to explore before taking the boat to Manifa elephant farm, which is the best place for elephants in Laos as they give them plenty of space to roam and take care of them well. There we ate a delicious buffet meal, the food was incredible, with a stunning view of the Mekong river, a view of the elephants on the river bank, and brilliant customer service. We then got a chance to feed the elephants, before taking a van through the jungle to go to Kuang Si falls. We had adequate time to go off on our own to explore and swim in the falls, which were breathtakingly beautiful and a must-see in Laos. I checked off so many iconic places to see, all with the kindest guide tours I cou

I'd recommend you do the Slow Boat to Pak Ou cave and Villages however on a hot day you really don't want to throw in the Kuangsui falls. Essentally the slow boat meanders down the Mekong and take in the view and villages. It's great however when you arrive back it Luang Prabang you are shoveled into a hot van and shipped out to the falls. At the falls you get 50 minutes to get to the falls change swim and get back. Our guide didn't tell us his name and sort of ended up as a time keeper, nothing was really explained especially when we picked up extra people and left people behind.. weird. As I said the slow boat was great spend time later on to go to the falls there is no need for an express tour.
