We had a glorious day over on Kapiti Island, courtesy of Kapiti Island Eco. The guide, Rob, was interesting and informative - we found the hour long guided tour very helpful on this, our first visit. What did surprise me was how thick the canopy was, which made photographing the birds difficult as they move so quickly. However, although I didn't get many usable photos, we saw weka, bellbirds, whiteheads, robins, saddlebacks and tui, in attention to the nesting gulls and a seal which came across to check out the boat. The birdsong was amazing - so many different calls, and Rob was able to tell us which was which. The more adventurous in our party swam off the shingle beach - apparently the water was very cold! There were plenty of places to stop with picnic tables will spaced out so so problem finding a quiet spot. The trip there and back was great - no wet feet, and a flat sea. Masks were required on the boat, but not on the island. We will be back to try the combined kayak and island

What a stunning day we had for the trip! It was easy as to get there, check in and the boat ride over was fantastic. Everyone was kind and knowledgeable! This hike to the summit is not for the faint of heart, but worth it. If climbing the whole way isn't your thing, the bird life alone is enough to keep you fascinated. At the end of it all, a rest on the beach, skipping stones and dipping toes in the water made for an epic day ????????

Perfect weather day. Dolphins sighted on boat ride over. Great hosts both skipper and guide. I loved sitting at bottom of island looking up and listening to all the bird song. Some beautiful bush on walk to top and then a stunning view from back of the island over the ocean. The highlight for me was hearing the kokaho sing, so haunting stops you in your tracks.

An amazing day out on Kapiti Island. Very easy booking procedure and clear instructions were given prior to the trip. On the day, the safety briefing was good and we were very well looked after by Coops & Robert, who was our guide for the day. Robert is very knowledgeable and gave plenty of interesting information. The walk to the summit is well worth doing with plenty of birds to see along the way, especially at the feeding stations. If you dont fancy the trek to the top, there are other walks to do, or you can just go as far as the feeding station and turn around. Highly recommended trip.

What a great day. We saw takahe, tui, kaka, saddlebacks, stitch birds, Keruru and the North Island robin up close. The boat meant no wet feet and Cindy was a great guide who showed us heaps that we would have missed without her. The climb to the top is challenging and quite a slog but well worth it if you are moderately fit.
