This is a treasure in the Sierra Madres. A lush forest made with love and total reverence for nature. Armando the creator of this Incredible project was an utter delight and took us on a thorough excursion of the land, showcasing the plants and animals of the area. This is a perfect example of what is possible on our planet when we act from a place of love and commitment. So appreciate feeling the passion of this place. Gracias Armando. Es un lugar marvailloso

Earlier this month our party of four spent a wonderful day at Hagia Sofía. We enjoyed both of the traditional Mexican meals and walking with the owner through the expansive beautiful gardens. We learned much about the native plants and the efforts to maintain them in the natural surroundings. The day was capped off with a refreshing swim in the crystal clear river with a small waterfall. The drive there and back is approx 1 hour but affords you a different view of the countryside, away from the resorts. We did not notice any starving dogs or worms swimming in the fruits juices. A great experience and thank you to everyone at Hagia Sofía for a wonderful day!

The Hagia Sofia tour was a great disappointment. Although the plants and flowers (what there were of them) were nice. The advertised meal was not upto health and safety standards. There were small worms swimming in the juice and the chicken meal was not very tasty. I fed mine to two starving dogs that were hanging around the kitchen area. The dogs condition was deplorable, one looked only hours from death. It is criminal to have animals suffer in such conditions. The Gardens are obviously a money making enterprise ( rental cabins being built, zip-lines going in) SPEND A FEW PESOS AND FEED THOSE ANIMALS.

The tour through the gardens and the stop at the waterfall for a swim was excellent. The food served was traditional, I kind of lost my appetite, when little worms were swimming in the glasses of juice being served. Also the dogs at the lunch place were skin and bones, I realize it might not be the owners dogs, but still criminal to keep dogs around without feeding them. The place in the mountains is truly magical and great for the soul, nice little bungalows are being added for staying overnight. Great idea!

8 out of our group of 20 were picked up with 2 other people from another hotel for an intimate 10 person tour. The food was authentic and very tasty. The flowers were fantastic. Most of the fruit wasn’t quite in season this time of year but was informative regardless. Tons of butterflies everywhere but not much wildlife. The falls swim was super fun. If you like plants and flowers, this is for you. Just be aware there’s many speed bumps and a winding road to get there. Just a mild warning in case you are prone to motion sickness and at the back of a bigger style Van. Take some Gravol!
