Overview
Stop At: De Bajan Barrel, # 47 Simmons Land Rendezvous Bridgetown Christ Church, Bridgetown BB15028, BarbadosThe rum shops of Barbados are full of culture, local flavor and of course, great rum. Considering this tiny Caribbean island is the birthplace of rum, it’s no wonder that Barbadian heritage and the amber-colored spirit are intertwined. Rum shops are more than just a place to drink, they are a social hub where locals gather to gossip about the happenings around the island while playing a game of dominoes. They also double as grocery stores, selling items based on the specific needs of the town or village in which they are located. Some might just sell booze and a few tasty snacks, while others stock basic food items. Rum shops offer up traditional Bajan eats on the cheap.De Bajan Barrel is one of many rumshops on the island that has been passed down from generation to generation, it is the true embodiment of a family business. De Bajan Barrel was established in 1980 and continues to thrive today. We server delicious Bajan cuisine everyday featuring a variety of local favorites.Duration: 1 hourSample Menu • Fish Platter - Grilled Fish 3 sides Salad

Traveler Reviews

The advert posted by Viator said that during the fish fry the fishing village will transform into a buzzing all-night street party. We would then continue to St Lawrence Gap to get a taste of Barbados famous nightlife. Viator didn’t inform us that there was no music or dancing at the fish fry and no trip to St Lawrence because of government curfews which I read about after. The meal included a choice between 2 fish (we saw in other stalls more fish was offered in the meal) and the price of the meal was approx £15. So we paid £45 each for a £15 meal and transport - nothing else. It was boring. The government curfew of 9 pm and not allowing parties was not new I found out later (although new to us as we had just arrived in Barbados) so Viator should have written this in their advert.

A great evening at ostins fish fry tasting local cuisine. Another great experience with Kate and Cleston. Thank you both for helping me make those cherished memories

Awful. Rip off. Paid 300 bbd but was only worth 100bbd. Do not book as it’s not needed. Just get a taxi and get some food yourself, all that was included in this tour was two meals and a taxi for 300bbd which is a scam. Only positive is that the food was ok.

Wow.

An unusual place but worth going on a Friday for supper. Take some advice before visiting. You have to select your food outlet, wait in line for some time, then try and find a seat and then eat. A lot of hype for some grilled fish.
