Honestly a tourist attraction I could have passed on. The bus was 40 mins late and at a 6am pickup time it’s understandable to be upset about that. A three hour hot crowded bus ride to an incredibly packed beach was just not really worth it in my opinion. Hundreds and hundreds of people on the beach, barely any room to lay your stuff out. By the time we got there all the umbrella and sun beds were rented. I found a spot in a not ideal place and within an hour there were people set up less than a metre from me in all directions as there were no other spots left.
Yes there is some pink sand but it’s basically a strip along the shore line and with huge crowds packed all over it it’s not exactly picturesque. With beautiful more accessible beaches all over Crete not worth the trouble. Even to use the washrooms costs you .50€ each time.
Also, I had been in contact with the tour company in advance and they specifically told me It would not be a problem for me to be dropped off in Mournies on
