Traveler Reviews

Ok, this dude for sure doesn’t want tourists to make many stops. He tells you all this cool stuff but then says hey man don’t recommend as there is better stuff down the road! A little annoying because there really isn’t better stuff down the road. He also repeated himself about being nice and respectful to the locals, which is good to do, but almost gives you a guilt trip for being a tourist but apparently wants to make $ off you. I did like the history he shares.

My husband and I loved using the Shaka guide to drive around Maui. It was like having a tour guide in the car with us. The content plays automatically when you approach different sites of interest. We loved the Hawaiian music and stories. It was well worth the money, and it doesn’t expire.

You might be thinking... Is this app worth the price? Should I really get it? Yes, you should! While pricey, it's definitely a very helpful app, full of great information about the road to Hana. It lets you know well in advance what some great stops are and then as you near, tips on parking or where to get your next great photo. We would have 100% passed by a ton of the little gems along the way without it.. Like, a cooled lava tube that you can walk in or a waterfall you can stand on top of and look down on. It was also full of great history and fun facts about Hawaii. Great app! Definitely added to our experience and made the road to Hana very enjoyable (even on the way back, which had a lot of stories!)

Enjoying the road to Hana. It was very exciting and informative. We loved it and so will you. Lot’s for twists and turns but worth every moment.

Downloading the app took a little assistance but the app works great and so detailed along the trip. Please allow yourself enough time and start an hour prior to leaving to connect to the app.
