I visited this village on the way to Monaco and although a lot of visitors choose not to walk up the hill to the "old village" it’s well worth the time and the walk is easy. Eze was populated from about 2000BC. Just outside the village, stall holders were setting up their wares- a variety of herbs, lavender, soaps and jewellery. The spectacular views along the coast, the cobbled picturesque, winding narrow streets host several artisans selling a range of jewellery, Soaps, lavender, clothing, locally made alcohol, plus cafes and restaurants. Walking up through the village there is a pretty church and courtyard and a further short climb took us up to the Medieval castle that was really interesting. After short walk back down to the newer part of Eze village where there are a few local shops and cafes we came across two very famous perfumeries Fragonard and Gallimard.
