Traveler Reviews

Beyond the fact that the weather was terrible, didn’t see the sunrise, was freezing cold- which I wouldn’t hold against the tour and I completely get it’s bad luck on our part and it happens. The reason for my review is because on the multiple hour bus ride to Haleakala- at least 80% of the bus did not wear masks. I asked the driver really nicely when we made our first stop if there were any rules for wearing masks on the bus. He said yes. He made a very brief announcement about masks even though the tour guide himself never wore a mask. He should have led by example. Even after this message about wearing masks, the 80% of people ignored his announcement and continued to ride on the bus the entire tour with no masks. I was uncomfortable the entire time. For this reason I would not recommend this tour.

Amazing experience must do.If you come to Maui , you have to experience the sunrise from Haleakala Park. It is breathtaking, but bring warm clothing because it is super cold. Our guide Billy was such an amazing knowledgeable guide. He brought us ponchos and that made a huge difference for us, we weren’t prepared for such cold windy temperatures up 10,000 feet. He brought us at the perfect time and he we got the best place. Got amazing photos and now I can really say , I saw a sunrise !

Excellent driver, showing individual concern for personal needs ; comfortable bus. Unfortunately clouds and weather conditions prohibited seeing sunrise

Marvelous! Our tour guide was excellent. We were provided ponchos to keep us warm as it was very cold??. There are lots of twists and turns on the road and our driver took them very well. He was knowledgeable about the history and customs of the people.

At first I thought that I was not going to get the opportunity to participate in this event but luckily I called the company and they were able to get us in for the last day we were in Maui. The driver picked us up from the hotel and drove everyone to the Haleakala Summit. Our driver was prompt and knowledgeable about the area. This really helped because driving in the dark on those winding roads can be tricky. I was very relieved to find Valley Isle Excursions who were more than willing to accommodate. Moreover, our group was one of the first to arrive to the top and we got the best areas to view the sunrise. We were above the clouds and the sky was full of twinkling stars that were astonishingly larger than what one would see on the U.S. mainland. When the sun first peaked through the clouds all the drivers sang a song in Hawaiian welcoming the sun. It was a sign of unity and I felt so happy to connect with the original people there. When we went down the mountain we were sea
