Tortuga Island is the best destination in Costa Rica. With its white powdery sandy shores and the party that never ends it was indeed the best experience I’ve ever had. The Viator team made sure that everybody had fun and is not hungry all the time. There were foods coming out every now and then. It’s worth the buck!

If you love the water, this tour is one to consider. The commute is about 3 hours each way and then you also get a few hours on the island to snorkel, jet ski, kayak, canoe or just relax. There are no shops or restaurants on the island so bring something to entertain yourself if you don’t plan on water activities. The water wasn’t the clearest so snorkeling was below average so I def recommend doing either the kayak or jet ski instead.

This ‘tour’ is literally a beach day trip. It took 4 hours to reach Tortuga island and 4 hours to get back to the Airbnb. There were water sports offered (for a fee) at the beach but nothing of interest to me (banana boat, kayak, jet ski). It rained hard so we couldn’t hike the mountains. It’s 2 hour bus ride from San Jose to the port. From there, a boat takes you to the island which is another 2 hours. They provide ‘breakfast’ which is a ham & cheese sandwich, cookies and apple. On the boat, they sell alcoholic drinks for $8 each but do not worth it. The mixers they use for the drinks are gross. The island has 0 cell service. You can buy WiFi for $3 at the souvenir shop but the more users on it, the slower it gets. Lunch was provided and was ok. The best part was the fish & iced tea. The souvenir shop is extremely over priced and no negotiating is allowed. The water was nice and clear and the sand a light Sandy brown. Remember to bring everything you would if visiting the beach, I sug

This was nothing like it was advertised. The clear blue water shown in their pictures was nothing like the real thing - in reality the water was dark and dirty with trash floating (plastic bottles, packaging, random trash, etc) on site. The trip there was dark dirty water with dead fish and trash which they attributed to red tide they said was for at least two months during August and September. Snorkeling had zero visibility. The beach is perhaps 150M long with multiple tour companies leasing a portion with their marked chairs - you can only sit in your company's section. The advertised jetskis were not available even though we asked before departure and were quoted pricing. Those are operated by another company but Bay Island would not advise us of the closure until we were on the island. They guaranteed 5 hours on the island but were gone after about 4 with a late departure from port and expected rain so you should expect less of everything they promise. They nickel and dime
